January 1960

This issue is probably the hardest piece of Dean Davis/King Bennett memorabilia to find. It featured an epilogue to The Crime Scene Trilogy (see book section). This seven-page piece shows how Greta’s murder was handled by her family. The timeline seems to be about two months after the horrible event and spotlights the breakfast routine of Greta’s parents. In the end you feel that this couple is not only mourning the tragic death of their daughter, but also the death of their marriage, that unbeknownst to them, happened years before. It’s only now that they realize how empty their lives are.

The reason this magazine is so hard to find is because the print run of Girlie-Q was much lower than the run of the paperbacks that totaled into the millions. Occasionally you can find one on an auction site. The starting price is usually around $50.
