Marketing Genius
or Literary Sellout?

Because of his celebrity status and enormous popularity with mystery readers, Dean Davis managed to land himself a few big name product endorsements. He is one of the few authors in history to pull this off successfully. Sometimes, as part of the deal, Dean worked the products into a King Bennett story. This was long before product placement became the norm in movies and TV, like it is nowadays. Let me state that  Clark's Teaberry Gum and the Plymouth Fury were already a part of the King Bennett continuity long before these ad campaigns started. These corporations came looking for Dean, and not the other way around, as it has been previously reported in some literary history critiques.
