This webpage is dedicated to my favorite, and one of the best, mystery writers...Dean Davis. My collection (some call it an obsession) started in 1990 when I found a copy of And Those Who Die in a used paperback book store. That fabulous book is the first part in the masterpiece known as Crime Scene Trilogy.That book was so unbelievable that I had to have the rest of the King Bennett novels. So I started trolling all the used book stores and flea markets I could find. Eventually I completed my collection and then moved on to finding all the magazines Dean contributed to in his long career. I think I'll be collecting Social Security by time I get everything.
Mr. Davis' detective character is King Bennett. Most of the stories take place in Las Vegas, but some also happened in Los Angeles and Reno. King Bennett ruled the Strip in the fifties and sixties as he cruised around in his totally awesome Plymouth Fury. Nobody gave King any guff, and if they did he popped them one in the kisser.
My favorite books in the series are: The Crime Scene Trilogy, Live it Up!, "Tick Tock", Said the Clock, The Electric Placebo, and More Than This. I like them all, but those are the best in my opinion.
Here's a picture of me after I just scored the last two titles needed to complete my King Bennett run. I found them at the Glenn Woods community yard sale in Hershey, Pennsylvania. Now it's on to collecting all of Dean's magazine work. Oh yeah, Go Flyers!
